Apple has released a cheaper (priced at $999) iMac model on its Higher Educational online store specifically for educational institutions, so it’s unfortunately not available for purchase to the general public. The new iMac model does not support Thunderbolt as the other 2011 iMac models do, containing mostly lower-end hardware to support the price point.
