Fake anti-virus scams rain on royal wedding searches

All very tiresome
Fake anti-virus scams rain on royal wedding searches. Online, Software, Viruses and malware, Royal Wedding 0

Pocket-lint just had a heads up from the? GFi Labs blog that the royal wedding has started a batch of fake anti-virus scams - rewarding folks that are searching for snippets of the big day with a nasty dose of spyware.

Search terms related to the wedding could well lead to links leading to the bogus anti-virus scareware, claiming that you are at risk from a security threat and encouraging you to download the false paid-for software.

The fake XP Antispyware app is said to be the main culprit that is being downloaded to users.

This is nothing new as this type of scam has been used previously when big news and events fill up the Internet. Stay alert people.
