1280x720 display added to souped up S II
Back in August, Samsung announced the LTE beefed-up version of the Galaxy S II smartphone, with its extra 0.2 inches of display and a more powerful processor, and Pocket-lint went "oooh" when we got our hands on it at IFA.
But now the Korean company has upped the ante once again, officially announcing the Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE - a phone that adds 720p resolution to the Galaxy gig.
And what's more, the screen size has once again been bulked up to accommodate the 1290x720 display - it now stands at 4.65 inches, up 0.35 inches on the S II that we all know and love. And, to save you the bother of getting the calculator out, let us tell you that equates to a 316ppi display. Wowsers indeed.
It's a tad bigger than the original and the S II LTE at 68.8 x 132.65 x 9.5mm, and it weighs in at 142g.
As well the additional 4G connectivity (LTE & HSPA), the specs on board have also been bumped from the original. It's now packing a 1.5GHz dual core processor, a step-up from the S II's 1.2GHz.
"Using the advanced technologies it has as the leader of the domestic smartphone market, Samsung Electronics will enable consumers to enjoy a truly smart life with the LTE smartphone," said JK Shin, president and head of Samsung's mobile communications business.
"The company will continue to release innovative LTE smart devices in the domestic market, thereby leading the LTE market."
Let's hope that we see some of that innovation over here in Britain. At present there are no confirmed plans for an S II HD LTE release outside of Korea.
