Mac mini also gets shake up on Apple's busy day

Confirming earlier rumours
Mac mini also gets shake up on Apple's busy day. Hardware, Apple, Mac mini, 0

It seems as if Apple was intent of stealing the tech headlines for the 20 July, with not just Mac OS X Lion roaring in, but the launch of the new MacBook Airs, the world's first Thunderbolt Display as well as a new line of Mac mini machines.

Not to be outdone by the Airs or the Display, the new mini also packs Thunderbolt technology as well as twice the processor and graphics performance of the previous Mac minis, all packed in the same aluminium design.

The Mac mini 2011 editions also feature Sandy Bridge chips with a choice of dual-core Intel Core i5 or Intel Core i7 processors, AMD Radeon HD 6630M discrete graphics, or a quad-core Intel Core i7 powered server configuration.

The standard model will pack a 2.3GHz processor with 2GB of RAM and a 500GB HDD. Or you can opt for a 2.5GHz processor with 4GB of RAM. You can also bump up to 8GB, should your budget allow.

There's also a 2.0GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 Mac mini server edition loaded with Lion Server, 4GB of memory and dual 500GB hard drives, which can also be upgraded to 8GB, two 750GB hard drives, or up to two 256GB SSDs.

Price wise, the bottom model is ?529 with price points then going ?699 - ?849 depending on your configuration.
