iPhone Appidemic: Isoball

Section: iPhone / iPod touch / iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, iDevice Apps, Features, Appidemic

IsoballRolling balls into a hole. Yeah, that sounds like something everyone wants to do. Super fun, no? Well, while that wouldn’t be very fun in real life, thankfully there’s an iPhone app that makes it fun in the digital world. And believe me, taking such a mundane task and making it interesting is no easy feat.

What is it?

Isoball is a game in which the goal is to simply get a ball into a hole. It takes place on a 3D-like board on which the user must place various ramps, blocks, and arrows to direct the ball to the right location. The user is also timed during the levels to determine a score and to see if you can beat others on the leader boards.

How does it work?

To place pieces, you simply drag and drop them from the top toolbar until you run out of them. If you need to rotate a piece, it can be tapped while in the toolbox. Then, once you have all your pieces in place in a way that you think will work, you hit “Start” and wait in eager anticipation to see if the ball goes in the hole.

Is it contagious?

If a.) you see yourself as amused by similar things that amuse cats or b.) you like puzzles, this game will be fun for you. While some of the first levels are pretty easy and mind numbing, it does get to a challenging and therefore more fun point.
