Bond 23 press conference streamed live on iPad

A press conference for Bond 23, the latest chapter in the long-running James Bond move franchise, is to be held at 11am UK time today (3 November) with the whole event to be streamed live on iPad. The press call, which is expected to reveal the name of the much-delayed next film, will be viewable through the Sky News for iPad application to all Sky subscribers for free.

Albert R. Broccoli’s EON Productions, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios and Sony Pictures Entertainment will be hosting the event, which will feature producers?Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, director Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Jarhead), and selected members of the cast. It is hoped that Bond himself, Daniel Craig, will also be in attendance.

iPad-owning Sky subscribers are urged to download the Sky News for iPad app from iTunes, and sign in with their subscription account. Sky Active subscribers will also be able to watch.

It has been 3 years since the last James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace, with work on Bond 23 originally being suspended due to the bankruptcy of studio MGM. A statement from the production company last year even went on to suggest that it may be canned indefinitely: "Due to the continuing uncertainty surrounding the future of?MGM and the failure to close a sale of the studio, we have suspended development on Bond 23 indefinitely," it said. "We do not know when development will resume and do not have a date for the release of Bond 23."

However, after MGM partnered with Sony for the distribution rights of Bonds 23 and 24 earlier this year, the production was back on, with a prospective release date of 9 November 2012.
