iFrogz Luxe LeanWell, here’s one that caught me completely off guard. I absolutely love the Luxe Lean from iFrogz, thought I can’t give you a specific reason why. The Luxe Lean is a basic case with features that are implemented perfectly in just about every area that matters.

The colors are quite striking. Although I can’t say this about all the options, the blue of my Luxe Lean is much darker than that pictured on the website, and the metallic sheen is much more more striking. It’s very cool if you’re tired of the bright, basic colors you normally get in iPhone cases. The hard shell also has a soft, somewhat velvety touch that’s quite comfortable hold. You won’t want to do so with greasy or dirty fingers, however, because the metallic facade will highlight your fingerprints.

Perhaps it’s the fit that completely won me over, though. I’m guessing it’s because of the side grills, but the Luxe Lean is very easy to snap on and off the iPhone, but it holds in place perfectly.

The top and bottom are exposed (I had no trouble docking my iPhone 4 with most of accessories when in the Luxe Lean), but the hard shell does wrap around the corners for some protection there. The wide opening for the mute switch and volume buttons allows for easy access and compatibility with both AT&T and Verizon phones, while the camera opening on the back won’t interfere with your photos or the flash.

My favorite aspect of the fit, though, is that the front edges rise just enough above the screen to protect it if you place your iPhone face down. However, because they’re small and they stay outside the screen, they don’t interfere when you need to slide your thumb or finger to the far edge.

So, what’s not to like? Well, there’s no belt clip or lanyard opening, but few iPhone cases ship with such features anymore. More troubling is that there’s no screen protection included. That’s a rarity these days. iFrogz offers anti-glare, mirror and privacy screen protectors separately, but they’ll run you $17.99 to $22.99…almost the price of the Luxe Lean itself.

Still, that doesn’t take away from the fact that when it comes to basic iPhone 4 protection, few cases offer the style, precision and comfort of iFrogz’s Luxe Lean. If your iPhone isn’t subjected to heavy abuse, the Luxe Lean is a case you really should consider.
