Two unreleased iPad models, identified as “iPad3,1” and “iPad3,2” have been found in the USB configuration files within the first iOS 5 beta. As the current iPad 2 is labeled as iPad2,1 for the WiFi-only model, iPad2,2 for the GSM model, and iPad2,3 for the CDMA model, this discovery not only confirms an upcoming next-generation iPad release, but also indicates that future generations of the iDevice will likely be getting a universal GSM/CDMA chip.
