With a ?100 saving
The Acer Iconia A500 impressed us all at Pocket-lint towers. It may not have earned the coveted "Hot Product" tag, but it came pretty darn close with a review score of 8 out of 10.
But, at ?450 - it was always going to be competing directly with the Motorola Xoom; a true behemoth Android device and, because of its launch fanfare, a much higher profile tablet.
But now Acer has halved the internal storage to 16GB, lost the 3G and shaved ?100 or so off of the price - and suddenly the A500 becomes a much more attractive prospect.
The A500 has a 10.1-inch display, an Nvidia Tegra 2 chip and 1GB of RAM. It packs Android 3.0, has HDMI out options for 1080p playback, as well as Flash 10.1 playback too.
Connectivity is via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1, and it also taps into Acer's clear.fi media sharing platform as well. It has a 5-megapixel camera on the back and a 2-megapixel one on the front.
The 16GB Acer Iconia A500 is available now, and will cost you ?349.99.
