Donates to five worthy causes
If you're using Chrome or thinking of giving the Google browser a go then you might like to know that you can help out some good causes whilst surfing the net - so long as you like to use plenty of tabs.
The browser-based charity fundraiser asks Chrome users to download the Chrome for a Cause extension, which will count the number of tabs used throughout the day. When you're done the extension will prompt you to submit the number, which will then be converted into a charitable donation.
Here's what they can do:
10 tabs = 1 tree planted
10 tabs = 1 book published and donated
25 tabs = 1 vaccination treatment provided
100 tabs = 1 square foot of shelter built
200 tabs = 1 person's clean water for a year
The worthy causes include: The Nature Conservancy, charity: water, Doctors Without Borders, Un Techo para mi Pa?s, Room to Read. On which you can find more information from the Google Chrome blog. The donations made will be on behalf of the Chrome community, and will go up to 1 million dollars.
To get involved browse the web with the Chrome browser between the 15-19 December; at the end of each day you can choose the charity you'd like to support.
