Nokia 600, 700 and 701
Not once, not twice, but thrice does Nokia thrust Symbian Bell-based phonage upon the fair public, the new handsets taking the form of the Nokia 600, Nokia 700 and Nokia 701.
Symbian Belle, the new version of the Symbian OS, brings features including a task switcher and the ability to quickly hop between applications or close them down, there's also Android-style drop down notifications.
The first in the lineup is the Nokia 600, previously the Cindy, which gets a 1GHz processor. The display is 3.2-inch nHD capacitive touch screen with a resolution of 640 x 360 pixels and it measures 111 x 53 x 13mm and weighs 100g.
The phone is described by Nokia as an "all-in-one entertainment hub" and is by all accounts Nokia's loudest smartphone to date - clearly making this handset firmly targeted at youths.
Next on our list is the NFC-touting 700 (previously called Zeta), which is powered by a 1GHz processor, and also incorporates GPS, a compass, Bluetooth and an FM radio. The battery life is rated at up to 7.3 hours talk-time or up to 465 hours on standby.
There’s a 5-megapixel full focus camera with an LED flash for capturing pictures and video. It comes with 2GB of user memory plus a MicroSD card slot for up to 32GB of extra storage. The screen is a 3.2-inch ClearBlack AMOLED display with gorilla glass on top.
The Nokia 701 (codenamed Helen) has remarkably similar features to the 700, however it's the screen that? sets this handset apart as the 3.5-inch IPS LCD display with ClearBlack technology, creates a screen that Nokia claims is the brightest smartphone screen to date.
An 8-megapixel full focus camera with a dual-LED flash on the back also adds to the appeal and there’s a secondary camera at the front for video calling. Inside there’s 8GB of user memory, with provision for up to 32GB extra storage using a MicroSD card.
A nice little round up from Nokia then, and it should appeal to a pretty wide spectrum of the buying public. Each device should see launch in the third quarter of 2011 and pricing is set at around 180 euros for the 600, 270 euros for the 700 and 290 euros for the Nokia 701.
