We've got tablet news coming in thick and fast from Acer, also hint of a tablet/phone hybrid, as it has just announced the launch of three new tablets. And of the three new Acer tablets two come touting Android, and one has the Windows 7 OS.

So let's take in the two Android offerings. First up is a 10.1-inch effort with full capacitive touch screen, Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity. Complete with a built-in HDMI port and 1080p capability, you can also use it for multimedia content in Full HD on your big screen TV.

There's also a 10-point multitouch and gyro meter control, that should make playing arcade games jolly fun.

Onto the 7-incher and it's all about being mobile. Its 1280 x 800 resolution 16:10 aspect ratio full touch screen, should be good enough for a variety of multimedia, whilst Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity allow connection to available networks. DLNA support is also present for sharing your multimedia on other devices.

The big omission, however, is which particular version of Android the two tablets will be getting, you've got to discount 2.2 Froya as, let's face it, it's not all that tablet-friendly. So that leaves a bit of 2.3-action (Gingerbread) or even version 3.0 (Honeycomb).

Onto the 10.1-inch Windows 7 tablet then, and Acer informs us that it is, "extremely innovative" as it comes with a docking device that includes a full-size keyboard meaning typing shouldn't be quite as arduous as it might be.

The tablet will run on the next-generation AMD platform and will be equipped with two 1.3MP cameras, one rear and one front-facing, allowing you to take pictures, record video, chat and videoconference. You'll also get Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity.

No pricing as of yet, but the two Android options are due out in April 2011, whereas the Windows offering will be out in February the same year.
