10 Billion Apps

It’s official. We’ve collectively downloaded over 10 billion apps from the App Store, putting an end to Apple’s 10 Billion App Countdown. That’s a lot of apps. And to think, it was less than two years ago when Apple announced the 1 billionth download. I think it’s safe to say that Apple’s App Store is kinda popular. The winner, the person who actually downloaded the 10 billionth app (which is more or less pure luck), has yet to be announced. Was it you?

10 billion apps. That’s a crazy number. That’s more than one app per person on the planet. Okay, well that doesn’t make it seem huge, but not everyone on the planet has an iOS device with which to help the effort out. And that number would be much larger if it took into account how many devices one downloaded app gets pushed to with account sharing and all. I just took a quick look at how many apps I’ve downloaded, and according to the Apps page in my iTunes, I’m right around 1,000. I’m probably what they call an outlier though.

What’s your number?
