Apple confims 2 March iPad 2 media event

iPad 2 is approaching... fast!

Apple has confirmed that it will hold a media event on 2 March in San Francisco, by sending out invites with the date and a picture of the iPad on them.

The invite slogan simply says:

"Come see what 2011 will be the year of."?

Pocket-lint has also been invited and will be covering the announcement live from the event.

Rumours surfaced on Tuesday that the company would hold an event on Wednesday next week to unveil the next version of the tablet device.?

“To those who care intensely about this kind of stuff - which would be pretty much everyone in the tech ecosystem - Apple will hold its much-anticipated event on March 2, where the tech giant seems poised to unveil a new version of its hugely successful iPad, according to multiple sources,” said?Kara Swisher, a reporter for the BoomTown section of the Wall Street Journal.

Apple rumours have also been circulating feverishly on many websites who have claimed launch delays, the existence of a host of different products, from mini iPads to bigger iPads, new iPhones and plenty more.

“It’s not clear when Apple will begin sending out its famous invites for the gathering, but I am guessing soon, in order to get the Apple faithful to the proper level of froth,” commented Swisher.

The iPad 2 rumours pretty much started the day the first iPad came out in April last year. Apple is expected to increase the screen resolution, as well as add a front facing camera so that people can video-chat together.
