Three simple FaceTime troubleshooting tips

Apple FaceTimeApple’s FaceTime technology can be a lot of fun, but it can also be terribly frustrating. If your FaceTime chat is not working well, the try these three common troubleshooting steps before you make that appointment for the Genius Bar. In most cases, you will be up and chatting again in no time at all. Just be sure you try them all.

  1. Ensure you are in an area with good signal zone for WiFi, and, if possible, that the person you are calling is in a solid signal zone as well.
  2. Be sure you are using the right method. For iPhone 4 users call the phone number, for iTouch users use the email address that is the user name for their Apple ID, not simply the one connected to the account. It has to be the user name.
  3. Ensure your time and date are set correctly. As odd as it sounds, this can prevent a call from going through, since it messes with the time stamps.
