iOS 5 crash report

An App Store developer known as FutureTap has publicly announced they have just received their first crash report from an iDevice running the upcoming iOS 5. This means Apple is currently testing the new unreleased version of iOS with apps that have been submitted to Apple via the App Store. In this case, Apple returned a crash report to the developer (shown above), in which the API “MKUserLocationBreadCrumb” (which is apparently related to iOS maps and location functionality according to developer Will Strafach) had caused a crash within iOS 5, so that the developer can work on it and have it fixed for when the new iOS version hits its beta stage.

This likely indicates Apple has made changes to some map and location APIs in iOS 5, probably due to the iOS location tracking “bug” that Apple claims to be fixing, even though the solution addressing that issue is expected to come as an update to the current iOS 4.

iOS 5 is expected to be announced at this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference in June, and will likely feature some new, exciting, cloud-based features. Current rumors suggest that iOS 5 will be released to the public this September, along with the also rumored release of the iPhone 5.
