Slap a little plus on the end of a popular handset title on the day your company is bought out by Google and you've got more than a mere coincidence we think.

That's what's happened with the curious case of the Motorola Defy+, the first handset to be announced by the company since it got gobbled up by the Big G.

The Motorola Defy+ is the follow up to, you guessed it, the Defy. Back to defend its 'hardest Android kid on the block' honour after Samsung took a swing with the Galaxy XCover last week.

Like Sammy's recent effort, this Gingerbread handset is IP67 certified meaning that it can take a bit of a kicking but still come back for more.

It's water resistant, scratch resistant and dust proof, boasts scratch resistant Corning Gorilla glass and also has a sporty edge too with the pre-loaded CardioTrainer app that lets you to easily view and track your workout progress.

It's got a slightly beefier spec sheet than the XCover, with a 1GHz processor, a 5-megapixel camera, 2GB of storage and a 3.7-inch high-resolution touch screen display.

The Motorola Defy+ will be available in Asia, Europe and Latin America starting in early autumn.
