And also a "next-gen" WP7 device too
Another leaked Dell roadmap has turned up, this time detailing its smartphone plans for the year ahead - and there are juicy details galore.
First up, is the news that Dell is planning on releasing an Android Ice-Cream device in September - the Dell Hancock.
The Hancock supposedly has a 4-inch qHD display, runs via a dual-core processor and has both front (1.3-megapixel) and rear (8-megapixel) facing cameras. It is also capable of 1080p video, but it isn't clear if this means external playback or recording - probably the latter.
A September Ice Cream release would fit the Google "6-month cycle" that was mentioned by Eric Schmidt and Andy Rubin at the company's MWC keynote on Tuesday. If Honeycomb went official in January, we expect to hear some Ice Cream rumblings by July.
The Hancock will be followed up by the 4.3-inch, DLNA compatible Dell Millennium in October, also rocking the as-yet-unannounced Android version and a dual-core chip.
The roadmap also lists a "next-gen" Windows Phone 7 device - the Dell Wrigley - as landing in August, although we're not sure what the next-gen refers to as the WP7 Mango update isn't expected until October time.
The Wrigley (surely only a codename) will have a 1GHz CPU, a 4-inch WVGA display, an 8-megapixel camera and 720p video shooting skills.
A Dell Venue Pro update is also scheduled, according to the leaked slide, for May - chances are this is the copy & paste functionality Microsoft has been bigging up.
We'll be keeping a firm eye on Dell over the next few months to see if these proposed devices land. So stay tuned for further updates.
