New iPhone, iPod touch and iPad product announcements for February 22, 2011:
New iPhone, iPad and iPod touch apps
- Digital Scrawl has announced Letterfall 1.0 for iOS, a new and original word construction game. The objective of the game is to construct words using letter tiles which fall from the sky however these letter tiles are not always what they seem. With many original features, the addictive elements of the game come from the need to constantly think ahead as more tiles of various types are added and also the frantic nature of the gameplay as each individual game moves towards its conclusion.
- Edu+ has released Fun Farm Patterning 1.1 for iOS. Designed for children aged 5-8, your child will delight in the visuals and sounds of the recognizable farm animals solving patterning problems and developing higher level thinking skills. Patterning is a great way to help young children develop strong thinking and problem-solving skills. It also helps develop a solid foundation for Mathematics, including algebraic thinking.
- RinnApps has announced PhonoPix for Apple’s iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. PhonoPix is a phonological app with minimal pairs for children to develop their speech sounds in flashcard and matching activities. Children have fun practicing speech sounds in words as they compare their speech productions to the target productions. The app allows the user to focus on correcting speech errors associated with sound production in targeted word positions or manners of articulation.
- Oceanhouse Media has announced the release of two new omBooks, Dr. Seuss’s Horton Hears a Who! and The Berenstain Bears Love Their Neighbors, both now available on the App Store. Horton the Elephant hears a small speck of dust talking to him. It turns out the speck of dust is actually a tiny planet, home to a city called Who-ville, inhabited by tiny inhabitants known as Whos. Their Mayor asks Horton to protect them from harm, which Horton happily agrees to do, proclaiming throughout the book that “even though you can?t see or hear them at all, a person?s a person, no matter how small.” In The Berenstain Bears Love Their Neighbors, the Bear family learns an important lesson about finding and giving help in unexpected places.

The game is great for training one’s memory and try to remember all the breeds while the dog breed guide can be a useful reference tool.
- Mettigel Software has announced iTalker 1.1, an update to their iOS based AAC Solution. Beside some stability fixes iTalker now offers the feature to display pictures on the button, like it is used in common popular solutions for augmentated and assisted communication. Perfect for lesson planning, iTalker can do voice recordings that can be grouped to playlists, so each lesson has to be recorded only once and can be used as often as needed.
