Who said that there isn't room for a hard disk drive based MP3 player in this smartphone, flash memory dominated world?

Certainly not Advanced MP3 Players, who has just announced that it is bringing the Cowon X7 to Blighty.

To call the Cowon X7 just an MP3 player is underselling it a bit though. Like most PMP devices these days, it offers a wealth of media features with much more on offer than simple music playback.

There's video playback, with file support for AVI, DIVX, Xvid, WMV and ASF, and it also boasts a FM radio, a voice recorder, picture viewing, document viewing, a Flash player, a dictionary, a notepad, a comic viewer, a stopwatch and a calculator.

It has a smartphone-like widget UI and it's all navigated via the 4.3-inch, 480 x 272, TFT LCD touchscreen display.

There's Bluetooth on board for wire-free playback, and you're looking at a whopping 103 hours of music playback battery life and 10 hours for video.

It's available now, in both 120GB and 160GB variations, priced at ?229 or ?249. You can get one from Advanced MP3 Players.
