Probably for document security, though
LG Korea has devised a way of hiding sensitive information you're viewing on your laptop from those around you, which includes having a sneaky look at porn.
Never again will you have to worry about lunging for the off switch when you've clicked on a NSFW (Not Suitable For Work) web link as the full result pings onto your screen.
The company's privacy filter is a sheet that attaches to the screen of laptop, notebook, netbook or other LCD display and allows the person in a central position to see everything clearly. However, as all light is being filtered forwards, anybody at an obtuse angle will just see a dark grey, blank screen.?It's basically the same as early LCD TVs, which had very poor viewing angles.
Of course, it's probably not been devised for the purpose of viewing mucky media - most likely to view secure documents safely, away from the eyes of others - but then, neither was the Internet originally.
We're not sure when LG will start to sell or attach the privacy filters worldwide, but would imagine that they'll be very popular when it does.
