New iPhone, iPad and iPod touch apps

  • Alexander Puchkov has just released an app for anyone and everyone preparing for the SAT, one of the most important tests of your life. Easy SAT Vocab helps you prepare, gathering up over 500 different definitions of the most frequently used words on the SAT. Using modes such as the Notecard mode, Quiz, and Study, you?ll be able to memorize vocabulary in no time. And of course, it?s all on the go.
  • MotionX has once again updated MotionX-GPS Drive, this time adding Live Traffic, having recently added spoken street names. It?s all in a package that starts at $.99, and as always the update is free to registered MotionX-GPS Drive users. And to celebrate the iPhone?s arrival at Verizon, they’re offering MotionX-GPS (tracks where you?ve been) for the iPhone at just $.99 until March 15.
  • Kimico Ltd. has announced BookBuddy 2.0, a major update to their powerful book management application for iPhone and iPod touch. Designed specifically for the iPhone and iPod touch, BookBuddy gives users full control of their book collection. No additional desktop application or online service is required. Version 2.0 adds important features allowing users to personalize their own book collection. Users can now rate their books, tag them with stars and add comments.
  • Sprockit, Inc. has released Career Facemapper 1.1 for iPhone users. This is a new application that assesses facial features to suggest career paths. It’s all just for fun, though. Using a headshot taken with an iPhone, the app merges it with a funny cartoon picture of a specific career. There are fifty career choices available and users can easily share results directly from within the app, thanks to the social networking integration.
  • Paarmobilesoft has released PicNic 1.0 for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users. PicNic allows users to settle group bills, very quickly and easily, keeping track of each person’s portion of a bill, as well as who owes who when money is borrowed by someone to cover their share of the expense. The intuitive interface and special fast algorithm means a smooth settle-up time between an unlimited number friends or co-workers.
  • Chilistreet has released iLingus 1.1 for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. A product that speaks, iLingus conveys a user’s thoughts and feelings by issuing chosen phrases, sounds or slang. From a variety of audio phrases, funny sounds and slangs, users merely need to tap a button to issue the sound or saying they want. iLingus provides a variety of male and female voices, and users are able to combine sounds and phrases to create custom results.
  • SSCM has released Celeb and Me 1.0 for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. SSCM has made it easy for users to insert themselves next to their favorite celebrity. Users can select from 400 photos of more than 200 top celebrities and merge them with their own pictures. Users can easily incorporate a full body or close-up cameo shot, optionally make adjustments, and then share the resulting snapshot with others via email, Twitter and Facebook.
  • Frontier Design Group has welcomed Verizon customers with their “Rock the Air” app sale. For a limited time, download each of their apps at up to 80% off retail, and start making and sharing music on your iPhone or iPod touch. Get a great start on your iOS app collection for your new iOS device with all of the Frontier music apps. Frontier’s iPhone apps have been featured in many viral videos, each with 2 to 5 million views.
  • Mobile TeleSystems OJSC has recently announced the launch of MTS Navigator, its highly advanced personal search, mapping and navigation solution powered by Telmap on the iPhone. MTS Navigator, powered by Telmap, provides full Russian language support and includes in-car navigation with 3D moving maps, turn-by-turn voice instructions that announce street names, a dedicated pedestrian mode, and access to thousands of points of interest across Russia such as gas stations, parking lots, restaurants, bars, hotels and more. It is specifically designed to enrich users? on-the-go experiences, beyond in-car and pedestrian navigation. The service is now available for free to all MTS? iPhone users.
  • Electric Pocket Limited has announced AnySong Ringtone Player 1.0 for iOS. With an emphasis on simplicity and ease-of-use, AnySong enables iPhone users to play their favorite music when a phone call comes in with no syncing or complicated set-up required. All a user must do is pick any song from their iPhone’s music collection in AnySong Ringtone Player, and that song will play when the next phone call arrives.
  • Lightsphere LLC has announced Cryptoku 1.1, a fast-paced number game for the iPhone and iPod touch. Cryptoku is a unique new number puzzle with a computer hacking theme. Players catch the numbers as they fall from the top of the screen, then place them into the grid to solve each level. Like Sudoku, each number can only appear in the grid once. But unlike Sudoku, the numbers and the grid itself can change. It’s a fast-paced game that will challenge players’ logic skills.
  • Prophetic Sky has announced Spires 1.0, their new Tower Defense game for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices.   • Mention Mobile has announced Super Friends! Free 1.1, its free social app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices. Super Friends! The free version does not have as many questions as the full version, but it is just as fun to use.
  • ComboApp has introduced 3D Coloring Book for Kids: Winter 1.0 for the iPhone and iPod touch.   • A new iPhone application called News Republic, with its roots in Europe has started making its mark upon the US. News Republic brings together content from various high quality news sources like the AP, Reuters, eWeek and more. Then, through its unique TagNav system, cross links the articles together allowing the user to jump from source to source and topic to topic without wall and without bias.
  • Candy Rush—the fun all-ages game where you make colorful candy gift-boxes—is now available for iPad and iPhone/iPod touch. Candy Rush is the new game from Appy Entertainment, creators of Trucks & Skulls, FaceFighter, Zombie Pizza, and Tune Runner.
  • DIGHENTIS has released a new game for the iPhone platform: Poshi Toky is now available on App Store. Poshi Toky is a nice, pretty animal that lives in Japan. He likes to play with gems, jewels, diamonds, but especially with coloured tiles. He uses his sturdy legs to touch and break the tiles, then shakes his long tail to remove them. He tries to remove as much tiles as possible and he is smart enough to use special weapons to facilitate this task. Unfortunately, he needs to avoid to be overwhelmed by incoming tiles and this is not so easy. Do you want to help the Poshi Toky in this exciting puzzle game?

New apps for iPad only

  • Ayerware Publishing has announced Blazin’ Aces Poker Tournament Timer 1.0.1, their advanced poker tournament timer app for the Apple iPad. Everything for proper timecode work in post-production is contained within the app, including support for 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 50 and 60 frame rates.   • Ten One Design has announced two new colors for its open-back iPad case, Particle. The new Ultraviolet (purple) and Snorkel (blue) color options join Dark Grey to complete the line-up.   • iChair has announced its cases are compatible with Verizon?s new iPhone 4.
