New iPhone, iPad and iPod touch apps

  • Oceanhouse Media would like to announce the release of two new omBooks on the App Store: The Berenstain Bears Do Their Best for $2.99 and Little Critter’s The New Baby for $1.99. As with all Oceanhouse Media omBooks, these interactive apps are engaging and educational. To promote reading in young children, individual words are highlighted as the story is read and words zoom up when pictures are touched. By combining the original text and artwork with professional narration, background music and audio, and features that entertain and promote reading, these digital books appeal to all children.
  • Michael Ryssen has released Satellite Assault 1.0 for iOS. Your goal is to survive in a deadly asteroid field by creating chain reactions to destroy them. The more you use your laser, the weaker your shield will be. Create the biggest chain reaction possible to do the highest score. Avoid magnetic asteroids and powerful Zaadiq ships. The main technical features of the game are an OpenGL-ES 2.0 engine for shiny 3D graphics, Retina display, FSAA, Gyroscope, and Game Center.
  • MySocialMania is an iPhone app that guarantees users interaction with their social network, anytime, anywhere. If you?re tired to death updating multiple social media accounts, this social media app is the one you need. With a single touch users can update multiple social accounts including Facebook, Twitter, Google Buzz, Friendster, MySpace and Linkedin at the same time. Why, they can even post to Wordpress and Blogger blogs. Don?t worry about character limitation, the app takes care of that. The app offers a choice of over a dozen sites to post messages and update status.
  • Anxer has announced iEarnFree 3.2, the free version of their AdSense monitoring app for iOS devices. An ideal companion for website owners and bloggers, iEarn gives you a quick overview of your Google AdSense revenues with ease. iEarn includes graphs with the Top-5 distributions per period and ad type. Version 3.2 is finally here, supporting the new Google AdSense 3.0 user interface adding many new functionalities.
  • Power App GmbH has introduced SysMoni 1.0 for iPhone and iPod touch, their app that provides complete activity, system, and hardware monitoring. Similar in function to the Mac OS X Activity Monitor application, SysMoni provides real-time information about: currently running processes, current OS, CPU usage, IP addresses, disk capacity and usage, memory capacity and usage, bus speed and CPU speed. The app provides a detailed view of vital statistics and parameters normally hidden from the user.
  • OOTB has released Picture Processor 1.2, for photo color corrections on the fly. Picture Processor helps your photos come to life. Based on the popular color correcting techniques used in processing movies, there are 5 presets: Blue Jet, Green Giant, Red Mist, Drama and Film Contrast. All processed photos will get an elegant white frame around their borders to add some style to them. Users can easily save their photos back to their album or to publish them on Facebook.
  • The second game in Treasure Seekers the series has been released on the App Store. Originally developed for PC by Artogon Games, the developers behind such hidden object hits as The Mystery of the Crystal Portal and Treasure Seekers, the game brings players many hours of relaxing and immersive experience. Nelly and Tom have grown up but have kept their taste for mysteries. The search for Philosophers? Stone will take you across 50 wonderfully drawn scenes and mini games. Summon a genie and ride on a magic carpet, wander through the abandoned fisherman?s village, reconcile the Sea Spirit with the pirate ghost, break the evil spell on the noble knight, and cure the werewolf girl.
  • PBS is premiering the first full-length episode of NOVA?s Making Stuff with David Pogue, entitled ?Making Stuff Stronger,? on its new, free apps for the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch—a week in advance of the broadcast premiere.

  • Rapid Turtle Games has announced a major update patch for their game iRequiem. The update brings Apple’s Game Center support. Now players have an option to choose between Game Center and OpenFeint (or even use both) as the social gaming platform. This means that players can see how their scores rank against their friends, as well as other players around the world. Also, they can unlock achievements and compare them with others. Until this update all these features (leaderboards and achievements) were available through OpenFeint.
  • Chillingo and Green Ant Games have announced Sheeple Chase for iPhone and iPod touch. Sheeple Chase is a hilarious, turbo-charged racing game set in a farmyard. Don’t let the pigs steal your apples.   • IK Multimedia has announced AmpliTube Fender for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad: full-featured tone guitar rig apps with built-in recording studios offering the legendary Fender tone designed and developed in close cooperation with Fender.
  • Hashsoft has announced Call Snooze 1.0, their second app for iOS. Featuring a friendly intuitive UI and high quality graphics, Call Snooze helps people to remember to return a call to their loved ones. The user may either return a call to a list of favorite contacts, or access the address book for full contact list. What makes this one special is the fact that it is designated for the purpose of returning a call.
  • A puzzle game set in deep space, See the Light challenges you to manipulate light using mirrors, lenses, energizers, absorbers, and other tools to solve 80 levels. See if you can overcome increasingly tricky puzzles while unlocking every award.
  • IK Multimedia has announced GrooveMaker Cool & Dre for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad are now available from the iTunes App Store; the artist-inspired music creation and loop remixing apps featuring the sounds of today?s hottest R&B/hip-hop genre.

New apps for iPad only

  • Skypaw Ltd. has announced Multi Measures HD 2.0 for the iPad. This all purpose measurement application equips users with a wide variety of measurement systems spread across an equally diverse variety of functionalities. Among the many professional quality virtual measurement tools included within Multi Measures HD are: a protractor, ruler, surface level, spirit level, plumb bob, as well as a seismometer.
  • 955 Dreams Inc. has announced The History of Jazz 1.0.1, an interactive timeline for Apple’s revolutionary iPad device. The History of Jazz features the legends of Jazz and provides an understanding of the various genres in Jazz complete with album previews and detailed biographies for each artist.   • While still unchallenged by other whiteboard applications, 39 Inc. decided to release a new version of SyncPad. This new version includes a brand new user interface, with a bigger drawing area, and the support for multi-page PDF, making it not only a great collaboration app, but also the perfect remote presentation tool. Now users can import entire PDF files, navigate through the pages with a new controller interface and sketch on those pages with the pen tool.
  • Guinness World Records has announced a record-breaking price promotion for Guinness World Records: At Your Fingertips, the all new iPad App from the world?s best selling copyright book. Delivering more than 150 photographs, 140 records, 20 stunning video clips and exclusive games, the first Guinness World Records app created solely for the iPad will be reduced from $4.99 to $.99 for just one week, ending Wednesday, January 19th.
