UltraEdit, a veteran among Notepad-replacement text editors on Windows (it's been alive since 1994!), has finally made it to the Mac. Its first stable version for the Mac is 2.0, which is mostly on par feature-wise with the Windows 16.x versions.
UltraEdit for Mac is a true native app, retaining a Mac-specific look and feel which can be customized to your preferences. UltraEdit for Mac offers column-based find and replace functionality, both inside and across files. The app can search directories and subdirectories, with support for Perl and Unix regular expressions, and it will search in files that aren't open at the moment of searching. There's also a built-in FTP client that enables editing on remote servers, as well as a built-in Hex editor.
UltraEdit for Mac runs on Mac OS X 10.5 and newer (Leopard and Snow Leopard), and only supports Intel-based Macs. The Mac version costs $79. A multi-platform version costs $99.95. Switching from the Windows version of UltraEdit costs $49.95, and upgrading the Windows version to multi-platform will set you back $79.95.
