In the near future, those with jailbroken iDevices will no longer have to solely rely on Cydia to purchase, download and install all of their favorite unofficial third-party applications. Lima, a new browser-based unofficial app store by the Infini Dev Team, is in development to bring the currently app-based third-party application market to the mobile browser for the first time.
Lima will be completely browser-based, a lot like the Android Market which also allows for browser-based app discovery and installation, and will simply allow you to navigate it through Safari or your favorite third-party browser for iOS. Developers will be able to list their apps for sale (or provide them for free if they wish), and it will allow users to manage repositories for applications just like within Cydia. Users will also be able to make use of an integrated backup system for their installed packages so they can restore their unofficial third-party apps after a software update or restore.
Lima is currently a work in progress, although you can have a look at what is completed so far in the video below.
I, for one, can’t wait for a release, as this is looking like a quite promising alternative to Cydia.
