Will Viddy do for videos what Instagram did for photos? Get the best local deals with Groupon HD, tweet about it with the new and improved version of TweetDeck, and while your at it, take a picture using more than one iOS device with Remote Shutter. Oh yeah, then there are the games I found. I’ll be honest, it’s a good week for free apps, which means it’s a good week for the list.
- Viddy - Instagram is to photos as Viddy is to videos. Viddy would like to help you quickly and easily create stunning videos and then share them with the web. I don’t think we take video often enough, so maybe this app will help change that.
- Groupon HD - Want to get a hefty discount on local services and such? Groupon is just that, and it’s awesome. It’s sort of like Woot, only localized to you. There’s already a Groupon app for iPhone, but now you can access the deals from your iPad in what I can only describe as stunning HD.
- TweetDeck - Probably the number 2 Twitter app on iOS, TweetDeck has been rebuilt from the ground up to be better, faster, harder and stronger. In addition to Twitter, there’s Facebook integration. If you aren’t happy with the official Twitter app, give this one a try.
- Remote Shutter - If you have more than one iOS device with a camera, this app will let you use one to take a picture with the other. The resulting photo will be saved to both devices. If you pay for the full app, you can even get a live preview of what the remote camera sees. Very cool concept. The app is universal, and this version is ad supported.
- Biolab Disaster - Here’s one of two games for iPhone that uses JavaScript without using WebKit. I know, you probably don’t care, but it’s interesting, trust me. This game is the jump and run style. Basically, you fight your way through an infected Biolab with your plasma gun. If it moves, kill it.
- Drop JS - Here’s the second game that uses JavaScript without WebKit. This one is bit more simple. Just keep your orb on the screen by navigating the endless pit you’re falling through. Reminds me of my graphing calculator game days…
- AR.FlyingAce - The game is free, but the hardware most certainly is not. If you and a friend both own Parrot AR.Drones, this game challenges your piloting skills, and your virtual plasma missiles. It’s the most fun you can have with two incredibly expensive flying toys, I think.
- Al Jazeera for iPad - Now you can watch Al Jazeera English free of charge on your iPad thanks to this official app. The content is live 24 hours a day, ready and waiting.
- ToDone - Another simple checklist app. You probably don’t need a ton of features, and if you do, this app isn’t for you. It has an attractive interface and gets the job done simply and easily. What more do you need, really? Perhaps you could make a checklist out of that.
- Calculator X Free - Why the iPad doesn’t come with a big, beautiful calculator app, I do not know. You can fix that problem easily with this app. It takes its design cues straight from the calculator app on iPhone, so it’s sure to fit in, though the buttons are quite a bit bigger.
- mathot - Remember Big Brain Academy? This game is along the same lines. It’s all about brain training, and the graphics are pretty novel to boot. They say, use it or lose it. I say, download it before they charge for it.
