In case you haven’t been checking your iPhone or iPad’s update button on the App Store, there’s a pending update waiting for you. No, don’t push that “update all” button, but scroll through the list and look for Infinity Blade. Yes, that’s right, Epic Games and ChAIR Entertainmentthe two companies responsible for bringing one of the best iPad games to datehave just updated Infinity Blade with a nice, new feature: multiplayer, or Arena mode.
As you might have guessed, Infinity Blade Arena mode lets you play the game with your friends or with other Infinity Blade players online via 3G or Wi-Fi. The Arena Mode works through Apple’s Game Center, which means you should be adding the players you want to challenge as Game Center friends. It’s a pretty cool concept, if I may say so, as I have battled once or twice since I grabbed the updated a few hours ago.
Along with the multiplayer game in the Arena Mode, you can also play Survival Mode, which is basically a continuous battle with the legions of Titans for as long you can maintain your character’s health.
Other new features waiting for you in Infinity Blade include new holiday helms waiting to be mastered, more than two dozens new magic rings, swords, shields, and helmets to collect and master, new achievements, additional leaderboards, and Facebook integration which lets you view your character, take a screengrab and brag about your conquest to your Facebook friends. There are also a few more surprises waiting to be discovered as you play the game anew.
Incidentally, the update is free. And in case you haven’t played Infinity Blade yet, now is the right time to grab it as Epic Games has lowered the price to $2.99 to celebrate the release of the update. This won’t last for long, so hurry up and get the game installed on your iPad right now.
